Folks On The Way!
This is Sunday! For many it's a Sabbath. People go to temple, church, shopping spree or picnics.
I have a different destination today. I woke up late around 5:50 AM. Taking a bath, worshipping, kitchen, and other small chores took my 2 hours at least.
Then I proceeded to reach Medical College. On the the way in my conveyance I saw varied scenerios of nature and human beings.
Transport system has changed in recent years drastically. Fossil fuels driven and electric vehicles have taken a prominent place in our routine life to move from one place to another.
Bikes and cars have crowded the roads nowadays. No one can deny that this very system is responsible for thousands of casualties every year in this country.
On my to the Medical College, I saw children(students in informal dresses) carrying out their chores or fooling around the roads and streets. Many women were heading towards the temples with offerings in their hands.
We can imagine the prominent place of Sundays in our life as on this day we try to get some respite from our usual life and routines.
Many adolescents were taking dives in a canal from the overbridge flanks. I couldn't resist from giggling when I saw them in their skimpy tight wet shorts.
Some women were carrying water in clay, plastic and steel pitchers over their heads as is the custom in the rural areas around Delhi NCR and remote parts of this country.
A haughty man with pointed moustaches in his late 20s was driving an SUV alone like a Hollywood actor looking to and fro to get confirmation of his driving skills and machismo. I imagined that he was out to impress his rivals and greet his friends and neighbours in his glitsy vehicle.
Then I saw men, women, and children working in a brick kiln backyard preparing raw material and bricks. I understand their predicament when I think of Kailash Satyarthi, a Nobel Peace Prize Winner for His Contribution to saving Brick-Kiln-Child-Labour.
I saw a number of people having parked their vehicles on the roadside threatening other vehicles' safe passage. This is a major cause of many road accidents with untrained, semi-trained drivers on our most crowded roads.
After an hour travel, I reached the Medical College and headed to the escalators. Fortunately, lifts were working today.
My mother looked normal when I met her. She was very hungry and asked for breakfast. Then I hurriedly went to the canteen to bring tea, biscuits, fruits, and other eatables. Doctor already had okayed for all kinds of foods.
Now I'm sitting near mother and she is looking more jovial and bright compared to yesterday ICU conditions.
I thank God for his blessings in such drastic times. This Sunday is really different for me in my Summer Vacation.
"Life is a rollercoaster ride. And nobody is aloof from the Karmas!"
Keep going ahead is the only respite and remedy.
